The North End of Tacoma, Washington is a vibrant and historic area located in the northern part of the city. Some of the most sought after real estate is found here. 

North Tacoma is situated north of downtown Tacoma and extends along the shoreline of Commencement Bay. It's bordered by Ruston Way to the west, the Port of Tacoma to the south, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to the north. Point Defiance Park, one of the most significant attractions adjacent to North End Tacoma is Point Defiance Park. This expansive 760-acre urban park offers a wide range of recreational activities, including walking trails, gardens, beaches, a zoo and aquarium (Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium), and a ferry terminal to neighboring Vashon Island. The rhododendron gardens in the summer are not to be missed. 



Residents of North End Tacoma enjoy easy access to natural beauty. Apart from Point Defiance Park, there are also other nearby outdoor destinations like Owen Beach, Ruston Way waterfront, Dune Peninsula State Park and Titlow Park, offering opportunities for walking, picnicking, kayaking, and enjoying the scenic views. Dune Peninsula, named after famed author Frank Herbert who was born in Tacoma in 1920 and authored Dune, offers commanding views of the Olympics, Commencement Bay and Mount Rainier. 



The North End is home to several schools, including public elementary, middle, and high schools. Stadium High School, with its iconic castle-like structure, is one of the most well-known landmarks in the area. Founded in 1884, Annie Wright Schools located in the North End offers preschool through 8th grade a prestigious and internationally renowned private curriculum. They are proud to be an International Baccalaureate World School. 



The neighborhood hosts various community events throughout the year, such as neighborhood clean-ups, farmers' markets, and festivals, fostering a sense of community among residents. The Proctor Farmers Market is a local favorite running from April until nearly Christmas. Farm to table produce, arts, crafts, fresh flowers and much more can be found here and locals from all over descend upon Proctor as soon as the market begins. 



In addition to recreational and natural attractions, North End Tacoma adjacent is home to cultural institutions like the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Glass, which showcase contemporary and glass art, respectively. Stadium District Art and Wine Walk is an annual event featuring some of the best local and regional wine producers. 


Overall, North End Tacoma is a desirable residential area known for its natural beauty, historic charm, and strong sense of community. Its combination of urban amenities and access to nature makes it a popular choice for residents and visitors alike.
