  Sound Transit Light Rail Construction Q2-24 Update  The massive Sound Transit light rail project linking various destinations around the Puget Sound, has been years in the making, and continues to open new stops along the existing route. These projects span years of public discourse, analysis, planning and engineering to get off the ground. Here in Washington, environmental impact is always a critical component to any project of this scope, ensuring both natural habitats and existing infrastructure disruptions are kept to a minimum.    The East Link line debuted this last weekend connecting Redmond with Bellevue via light rail. This line is expected to handle about 6,000 riders per day according to Sound Transit. The original plan was supposed to open all the way from Redmond to Seattle, but supports along the I-90 had to be reconstructed due to improper concrete.
