You know, I've never really pinned myself down as a "Gay Realtor" just because it's part of who I am. But truth be told, my passion lies in helping my LGBTQ+ community find that perfect, safe haven they can truly call home. It's funny how shared cultural identities can draw folks together, isn't it? Well, the same goes for us LGBTQ+ folks - we understand each other's needs and dreams when it comes to finding the ideal home and neighborhood.

So, here in Washington State, particularly around the Puget Sound, we attract all sorts of folks from the gay community for a whole bunch of reasons. Like many places, politics and cultural vibes in Washington swing from liberal in the bustling cities to more conservative in the rural areas. Heck, even from city to city, the vibe can change drastically for someone making the move here. People often hit me up with questions like: "How cool are people around here with gays and lesbians?" or "Are there spots where we can hang out and build our own little community?" And then there's the classic: "Can we actually hold hands in public without getting side-eyed?" The fact that these questions still come up tells me just how important it is to help people find their perfect fit.

Now, I've been out since I was 18, living my life openly and all, but I'm constantly reminded that my lived experiences might be worlds apart from someone else's. I've never had to face the violence or shame that others have dealt with in different places. That's why it's absolutely crucial for me to listen up, take notes, and give solid support to those looking to make Washington their new stomping ground.

In the world of real estate, our community often puts more stock in stuff like privacy, the vibe of a neighborhood, historical charm, and killer views. Sure, some of us have kids, but more often than not, we're after a quieter hood or somewhere with easy access to cool hangouts like restaurants, galleries, and cafes. You know, places where we can really connect with our community.

So, let's talk Tacoma, Washington. Back in 2013, The Advocate crowned us "the gayest city in America" - quite the title, huh? With around 250,000 residents, Tacoma's got its own flavor that's different from our neighbors up north in Seattle. Sure, the gay scene might seem a bit sparse at first glance, but once you dive in, you'll find a lively bunch of folks from all walks of life. As a local, I've always felt safe cruising around Tacoma or Gig Harbor, whether it's hand-holding or soaking up the vibes of our Pride Parade downtown.

Now, my husband Jason and I noticed a bit of a gap in community connection beyond the downtown bar scene. Lots of small group hangouts, sure, but nothing on a grand scale that we were part of. That's where we came in with the local chapter of Guerilla Gay Bar (GGB). Born from a chill chat over beers during the pandemic in 2021, we decided to hit up a local brew pub once a month and take over the joint for a few hours. And man, did it take off! With over 600 members now and monthly meetups drawing in over 60 men, we've managed to link up guys from all over - Bremerton, Puyallup, Port Orchard, Kent, West Seattle, Lakewood you name it. It's been a real journey, building friendships and forging bonds among brothers who might never have crossed paths otherwise.

So, sure, some might call me the "Gay Realtor" down in Tacoma, but I'm all over the Puget Sound. Heck, a couple of years back, I even helped some Orlando friends find their dream pad up in Vancouver, Washington. Moving somewhere new is always a wild ride, full of questions and doubts about whether it's the right fit. Having made the leap from Las Vegas myself years ago, I get it. I'm here for anyone who needs a hand, but my LGBTQ+ crew will always find a warm welcome as we journey together to find that perfect spot along the Puget Sound. Cheers to new beginnings as you relocate to the Pacific Northwest.
